Re: Enforce update on a remote computer?

Assuming you have file and print sharing and administrator powers on the
target computer you could try using psexec from SysInternals to do such
using the secedt /refreshpolicy [Windows 2000] or gpupdate [XP Pro/2003] .
It would be easy enough to test. Psexec can use a text file to run the
command against and a wild card feature. By default Group Policy refreshes
for both user and computer configuration every ninety minutes for non domain
controllers with a random offset up to thirty minutes so that all computers
do not refresh exactly on the same time. Security policy will also reapply
all security settings every 16 hours. There are however some Group Policy
settings that will not refresh such as Software Installation, logon/startup
scripts, and redirected folders which require a user logon [ possibly two
times] or computer restart to take effect. --- Steve
