Re: Gropy Policy Outside a Domain Environment?

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

MS has released a new version of their Shared Computer Toolkit. I have tried
it briefly and the results so far are pretty impressive. You can do a lot to
lockdown individual accounts on an XP Pro computer with SP2 installed. The
accounts can be locked down to what access they have to the operating system
features, folders/drives, locking the user profile, and restricting access
to applications outside of the program files folder [this is a huge
advantage and you can further lockdown applications in the program files
folder with ntfs permissions] via Software Restriction Policies. It is free
and well worth a try. MS also has tried to make it very user friendly to
configure as it was designed to help those in an environment that do not
have a network administrator type. See the link below for more details. ---
