Logon script in both GPO and Profile make sense?

Ok, check me on this to see if I'm making any sense at all.
I have two OU's setup. "Standard Users" and "Workstation Admins". I
really don't see any benifit to having a different ou/policy for each
department. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
For logon scripts to map drives, I'm mapping general drives available
to all users and departmental specific drives.
For the general drives "P: for public and r: for read-only stuff", I've
specified the logon script that maps these drives in the group policy.
This script maps "public" and "read-only" shares.
For the department specific drive(s), I'll specify a logon script for
that user's department in the user's profile. This script maps each
user's department's share. A different script for each department.
It's working. Makes sense to me, but does anyone see any pitfalls to
doing it this way?
Thanks,
Busterama
