Often dns misconfiguration is the root of Group Policy problems,
particularly when cannot query or cannot find messages are involved. So I
would first double check your dns configuration and use the support tools
netdiag, dcdiag, and gpotool on your domain controller to see if any
problems are found that may give a clue. Be sure to check the first link
below on dns configuration for an Active Directory domain. The domain
controller must point only to itself as it's preferred dns server if it is
the only dns server and never and ISP dns server. The site
http://www.eventid.net is also a great place to search for Event ID's as is
Google or Microsoft website. The Event ID below can also be related to
improper permissions to the sysvol share or if the sysvol share does not
exist. You should see and access the sysvol share for a domain controller in
Network Places. --- Steve
