Yes, that would make sense to me as well. Edit the GPO locally on my
'branch' DC and then it would eventually replicate to the PDC Emulator
(FSMO?).

So while I've been in the ADUC console I've right clicked on the top of the
tree and selected the option 'Connect to Domain Controller' and then
selected the machine I'm on. It still doesn't make any difference though
and can take a minute to display the policy and almost 5 minutes to expand
another branch such as 'Administrative Templates'.

Is the above what you meant? Or have I done something completely different
:)

Couple of bits of other information is the 'branch' DC is also a GC and we
are win2k3.

Alex

By default when you edit the GPO, the application connects to the DC with a
PDC emulator FSMO and opens the GPO from there. That is your case, I
believe - since from the branch office that DC is across a slow link. You
can just retarget the console to the local DC - the policy objects will be
synchronized anyways.

Hi,
I'm playing around with group policy's but having problems because of the
speed of the link between my office and the master server where the policy's
are held. We have one domain located between two sites (128k). The first
site has the 'PDC' in it but I'm located in the second site. I have created
an OU which contains all my local users to this site and applied a new group
policy to it.
Like I say, it's incredibly slow to make any changes to the policy that's
assigned to my local OU so I wondered if it's possible to change the site
that this policy is lcoated at so it will load faster.
Thanks,
Alex
