Hi Dave
Thanks for replying. Unfortunately the link doesn't work, instead the
following error message was displayed;
"Page Not Found

I have reported the problem via
https://connect.microsoft.com/Main/help/emailsupport.aspx?Category=3.
Am I correct in thinking that there should be a new version of DiskPart
included in Server 2003 Service Packs 1 & 2? If so why hasn't the "extend
filesystem" command been recognised when I have tried to use it? Can I
examine DiskPart.exe in some way to determine if it is the correct version?

Description
This article mentions a hotfix but then says to install the latest service
pack to resolve the issue. Further states Windows Server 2003 with service
pack one also has the issue but that the fix is part of SP1. Can you clear
this one up?

Thank you for your comment.
The hotfix includes a new Diskpart.exe utility command not currently
documented in the Diskpart.exe Help file:
[extend filesystem]
The hotfix is not a preventative fix but includes the above command to
correct the problem if it occurs.
We need to reword the KB article to be more clear upfront, for example:
"Note You may still experience this problem on a computer even with
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Microsoft Windows
Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2)installed. However, the Diskpart.exe hotfix
that is described in this article is included in Windows Server 2003 SP1 and
greater and contains a new command to correct the problem if encountered.
For details see the More Information section below."

Hello everyone
I have recently expanded a RAID array in a HP Proliant server running
Windows Server 2003 SP2. The unallocated space was detected OK in the HP
Array Configuration utility and I expanded the array to the required size.
I
then used diskpart to extend volume 3 on disk 0, and this extension is
shown
in Disk Management. However, when I checked My Computer the original
partition size was still shown. Rebooting the server made no difference.
I have searched the internet and came across the
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/832316 knowledgebase article which seems
to
imply that this issue was resolved in Windows Server 2003 SP1. How come I
have the problem on a 2003 server with SP2 installed?
I've looked into the diskpart "extend filesystem" command mentioned in the
article, however this command is not recognised by either the version of
diskpart which was already present of the server or another version I
downloaded from Microsoft. Does anyone have a link to a version of
diskpart
which will recognise this command?
I would be grateful if someone could provide a solution ASAP please as a
SQL
database administrator colleague needs the extra space I am trying to
create
for SQL backup files.
Thanks!
