Re: Security and Summary tabs missing?

Hello,

What happens when you use the takeown command to try to take ownership from the command line?
What is the output of the icacls command for just listing the security permissions?

I recently encountered an issue with one file on a server I manage. The
Security and Summary tabs are missing from this file. The file is just a txt
log file from a copy operation. I have tried to take ownership of the file,
by re-taking ownership of the entire folder, and propagating the ownership to
child objects, re-applying permissions from the folder to the child objects,
these both return access denied when they hit the problem file.

I have also tried using cacls d:\file.log /g domain\Administrator:F, as well
as icacls d:\file.log /reset. These also resulted in access denied. I am
unable to do anything to this file, including deleteing it.

I am currently in the process of running chkdsk on the drive.

The system is running Windows Server 2003 Standard, SP2, and I am logged in
as Administrator (Domain Admin)

Thank you,
Jason A.
