Re: Max recommened SAN disk size

Using diskpart to expand partitions is not a problem, I've done it a few
times before without a hitch. My problem is that I'm not sure how large I
should make each SAN drive based on issues like time to restore, run chkdsk,
etc.
For example is 2 x 500Gb disks better for administration purposes that a 1Tb
disk?

Thanks for replying,
Iain

Some vendors provide a way to dynamically expand a disk, and diskpart is not
required. Who is the vendor? Do they do this? If not, then the vendor
most likely will have guidance on how to use diskpart to expand a LUN. I
would follow your specific storage vendor's guidance.

We have servers running Win 2003 Standard with SAN based disks. Some disks
are around 500Gb and I want to expand them using diskpart.exe.

Is there a maximum recommended disk size for SAN drives? I'm not referring
to the maximum disk size technically possible.
I'm thinking about backup/restore times in the event a partition gets
screwed, times to run disk checks, etc.

Any info on experiences much appreciated.

Iain
