You don't say what size your backup file is and you don't
say what file system your USB drive uses. If it uses FAT
or FAT32 then there is your reason: FAT volumes cannot
store files larger than 4 GBytes.

All of our nodes run WindowsXP home, whatever files system
XP Home uses is what we use. The Problem USB drive is
newer than the others, it's a Maxtor One touch.
