I don't have the problem with it taking 8 minutes anymore, since I found the
problem of my original boot drive failing, and removing it from my system. I
don't know how or why, but I am able to boot off my other drive. THe one
that has Vista on it. Again, I had a dual boot system that had XP and Vista.
My XP/IDE drive failed and I switched my BIOS to boot off my Vista/SATA
drive. You had said that I shouldn't switch what drive boots. So is there
anything I need to do to make my Vista boot sequence to be configured
properly. Or were you just saying don't switch boot drives and didn't really
mean it? Right now I want to know if I need to, as you mentioned, do a
repair install of Vista. Do I still need to do a repair install?

I'm sorry. You did not misunderstand. I am having problems in that my
hard
drive that had XP has failed to boot. When that happened, in my efforts
to
get my computer back up and running, I switched the drive that the BIOS
searched for a boot record. The one I switched it to is my Vista drive.
At
that time it would take it 8 minutes to boot up, but I discovered, with
your
help, that it was from my failing drive that it took so long to boot. You
had said that I shouldn't switch boot drives, so I was wondering,
considering
that my current boot drive was not the original boot drive, is there
anything
that needs to be done to my current boot drive, my Vista install, to get
it
setup properly, if there are any configuration propblems, as you hinted at
by
telling me not to switch boot drives. So you reccomended I do a repair
install, I believe, to reconfigure my setup to boot without worrying about
a
previous configuration. That is why I asked if that is what I need to do
before I actually do it. Your help is greatly appreciated.
