Re: Funny Vista/XP Boot change

It's only data. That KB article is a little confusing. If I have two
seperate hard drives, how do I configure the BCD to recognize each drive.
The way I had it before was that it would boot off the old XP drive and then
switch over to my SATA for Vista. Now I have it configured to boot off my
SATA and have removed my old IDE. So how do I configure it to boot the old
way after I reinstall an XP IDE drive?

And maybe more important, if I decide not to reinstall an XP drive, do I
need to do anything to make sure my Vista is booting up properly?

Thanks so much for your help.

Data or image? If the latter then you should be able to just restore. If the
former then you'll need to reinstall the operating system. Then this one may
help.

Thank You Dave,

You are correct as my IDE HD seems to be dying. Well at least when I
unplug
it from the computer everything boots faster. So now I need to know what
to
do to get my system ported over correctly to the drive I installed Vista
on
as it was a dual boot before. Or, if possible can I get a new hard drive
so
I can boot up to XP again, as I have a backup of the old IDE drive's data
that I could restore to it.

Thanks again.
