Re: Windows Disk Space

We have done this and at first view nothing jumps out at using up a large
quantity of space. Where do we go from here?

# Click Start.
# Open My Computer.
# Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
# Select the View Tab.
# Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and
folders.
# Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
# Click Yes to confirm.
# Click OK.

Yes as far as we know we see hidden files and not quite sure about
protected
files.
We have run disk cleanup, check disk, and defraged. We have also deleted
older system restore files and that gained us 2GB. We currently have
7.4GB
free out of 37GB.

Hello,

So you are sure to see both hidden files AND system protected files ?
Did you do a chkdsk on the volume to check for errors ?

My workstation is still using 3 times the space under Windows Folder.
Any
other thoughts?

Forget my last message. We found how to unhide Windows folder and
found
how
to view hidden files. Nothing showed more than 10MB per file/folder
under
Windows.

Hidden was not checked under Windows folder, we have since checked
it
thinking we were going to be able to view hidden files under the
folder
and
have lost the Windows folder. How do we get it back?

I have a 37GB hard drive and Windows XP operating system shows
using
26GB
under my Windows folder. This is impossible as other 2
workstations in
our
office are only reporting use of 7GB. We have also looked under
the
Windows
folder and recorded each file size and they do not equal 26GB.
How
do we
find what is using up the extra space?
