Hi,from
I had a DFS root on two servers. I removed the root. On one of the
servers, the removal did not work. I attempted to remove it again
the problem server.
First message - 'The specified service does not exist as as installed
service. Do you want to forcibly remove the dfs root' . I clicked
'yes'.
Second message 'The system can not find the file specified'.
Of course the DFS root is still there.
I have attempted the following
ntfrsutl /clean:mycomputername
Removal of all registry entries relating to the dfs share
removal of all active directory entries relating to the dfs share
stop frs, renamed the ntfrs database, started frs.
frs created a new ntfrs database
Where else is the dfs root setup stored ? How can I fix this ?
Thanks.
Kind regards,
Michael.
Hi again,
I think I've found it. I did a dfsutil /clean:mycomputername. I
restarted the DFS service and viola - the dfs root has gone.
For others, there is also a Microsoft hotfox for Windows 2000 systems
that may fix a similar problem to mine -
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/837731
I don't need anymore help just yet. Thanks anyway.
Kind regards,
Michael.
