Re: Can't reconnect a Hardware RAID5 Array

I'll state the obvious and say I do think the import SHOULD have done the
trick. My two suggestions would be
a) Enter the RAID card's BIOS and do a repair or verify to make sure that
the RAID 5 is optimal, then maybe it will import. If you can't get into a
BIOS utility, see if you can do a Verify in the Compaq UI.
b) Make sure you have the exact same driver for your RAID card as before -
even if the RAID device is in Dev Mgr, it may be possible that a driver that
is too old or too new might hose up the RAID as it appears to Windows.

When you view the logged events in Event Viewer (double-click them in the

Please do so for each of the different System Log events (that are a Type:
'Error' or 'Warning') so we can see all of the event detail.

It won't import. event viewer show an LDM error 2. and the Virtual
disk service stops
the compaq/HP Array utility sees it perfectly (all the drives and the
one Volume) Windows 2003 server sees it but lists it as a foreign disk
and errors when I try to import it.

If you notice number 3. above I stated that the array will not import.

Please someone there must be a solution to this the array is intact
There must be a way to get window to find the LDM database so it will
import.

Thank you Dave here are the events that seem to be relevent. (FYI I
have been a solution provider since 1990 and in this biz for 25 years.
I mention this only to save you time in explanations, i.e., the how to
copy the text from an event.)
There must be some way of windows finding the LDM or rebuilding it in
some way. The original mirrored disks won't finish a boot they just
flash a blue screen (to fast to read) and reboot. Yes I tried all the
safe boots and Admin boot. When I tried going to an admin boot from
the CD it couldn't find the System files on the disk and they are
obviously there. I think that if I could get one of the mirrors to
boot it might find the array.
Anyway here are the events
