Hi!
Is there any alternative instead of File Server Resource Manager?

Hi,.
You will need to get to know a few features that comes with WinServer 2003.
Here I'll briefly give you a few features of WinServer2003 which can help
ease your job:
FSRM - File Storage Resource Manager (only comes with WinSerevr 2003 R2):
You can use it to set quota to user directories on the maximum allowed
folder size. The user will not be able to store more files if the quota is
exceeded. With FSRM, you as the admin can also audit or effectively monitor
the usage of users directories, and also can limit to what type of files you
can store. You can find more about FSRM at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/R2/storage/default.mspx
You can also enable quota management, based on users (FSRM is based on
folders). This is a built in feature of WinXP/2003 and you can easily enable
it by right clicking on your hard disk > Properties > Quota.

There's tons of other ways, but I suggest that you start reading from:

Hello everyone,
I am a budding network admin, still learning some of the best ways to
manage
certain aspects of network and system administration.
I have an office of about 50 employees, who have no concept of what
constitutes a large file size. I have some Powerpoint presentations over
500
MB, some TIF images over 200 MB. This is causing our storage server to
fill
up faster than expected, and only gets worse every day.
I have no idea how to go about getting it through their heads that file
size
is important. How do you guys enforce file size restrictions, folder size
restrictions etc?
I am barely treading water here, and afraid I am going to drown in a lack
of
space and backup tidalwave!
Please help!
