Office components use their own open dialog rather than the common Windows
open dialog. You'll get the best answer to this question in an Office
group such as microsoft.public.office.general. Be sure to specify your
office version, because the dialog looks different in different versions.

I'm not sure where this setting is or where to ask this question, but when I
open up a file in Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) it groups the files first
by when last opened (today, yesterday, last week, etc.) I can't figure out
where to return this to a simple listing (alphabetical by name). Could
someone please help? Thanks.
