Hi. I recently moved a large number of files on our W2K server. For some
reason, the creation date on some files changed to the date they moved
(this
never happened in testing). Ideally, I would like to correct the creation
date, preferably through writing a VB program that modified each file's
date.
Does anyone know how to modify the creation date programmatically? My
guess
is, though, that Microsoft would not advertise methods to do this as the
creation date should be inviolable.
If the above is not possible, I was thinking I could insert the original
creation date into another field, such as the copyright date (a field
displayable by Windows Explorer). Does anyone know how to access the
copyright date programmatically through VB?
Thanks.

There is a large number of free "touch" utilities available to
do this job, e.g. from here: http://pobox.com/~stevemil. If
you still wish to do it with a script then a scripting group
would be able to help you.
