Re: File names size limit?

Sounds fine. And which part of my reply do you disagree with?

I would disagree.

from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTFS

"The following are a few limitations of the NTFS file system.

Reserved File Names
Though the file system supports paths up to ca. 32,000 Unicode characters
with each path component (directory or filename) up to 255 characters
long,
certain names are unusable, since NTFS stores its metadata in regular
(albeit
hidden and for the most part inaccessible) files; accordingly, user files
cannot use these names. These files are all in the root directory of a
volume
(and are reserved only for that directory). The names are: $MFT, $MFTMirr,
$LogFile, $Volume, $AttrDef, . (dot), $Bitmap, $Boot, $BadClus, $Secure,
$Upcase, and $Extend [18]; . (dot) and $Extend are both directories, the
others are files. "

When was the last time you typed in unicode to create a file or directory
path? When was the last time you wrote a sentence in mixed arabic,
english
and german?

Unicode was a brave effort to create a single character set that included
every reasonable writing system on the planet. Just because it has a
32,000
character set does not mean you can write in one language a path longer
than
255 characters in NTFS. NTFS unicode support means multiple language
support.

Least that's my take on it.
