Thanks for the response.

So if I use the System Drive, then I have used a drive that is not shadow
copied, but one that does have a lot of IO. In that case, it sounds like
it
might not be a good idea on a heavily used file server.

Hi,

Thanks for posting.

Actually, we recommend select a storage area on a volume that is not
being
shadow copied. Using a separate volume on another disk provides two
advantages. First, it eliminates the possibility that high I/O load
will
cause shadow copies to be deleted. Second, this configuration provides
better performance. This is the recommended configuration for heavily
used
file servers.

Check following article:

Hope this helps.

Hi -

Is anybody storing shadow copy files on the System drive?

I have some Dell PowerEdge 2800 file and print servers. The data for
which
I want shadow copies is on a hardware RAID 5. The System Drive is on
a
70 GB
hardware mirror. Since there probably will never be less than 55 GB
of
free
space on the System drive, there is plenty of room for the copies.

I just would like to know if anyone is having success with this or if
I
should avoid the configuration. These servers are essentially just
file
and
print servers.

Thanks.
