I was actually not trying to access the Previous Version tab from the server
itself. I was attempting to access it from a Windows XP SP2 workstation as I
had before.
I hadn't paid close attention to when it stopped working, becuase I don't
use the feature daily, however, I do know that at one time that from all my
mapped drives I was able to view the Previous Version of both folders and
files on the drives, now for whatever reason, only the Previous Version of
folders is available. The Previous Version stab still shows up when I bring
up the properties on a file, however there is no history there, there is
history for the previous version of a folder though.
The only thing I know changed on that system were the windows updates I
mentioned in my first post.

I know the behavior you describe works on Windows Vista, but I never knew
this also worked on W2K3. The technical reference at

states the following:
You cannot view previous versions of files on a local shared resource. You
must have a working network connection and be viewing the volume as a shared
network resource. On a computer running Windows Server 2003, in order to
view shadow copies of a local shared folder, you must create a connection to
the shared resource on your local computer as if it were in another location
on the network. For example: To view previous versions of files in the
shared folder \Documentson the local computer \\Server1, you need to create
a network connection to \\Server1\Documents and access the previous versions
as if they were on a remote computer.
So, it's possible something has changed, but I don't know where to point
you. Maybe someone can prove me wrong!

We have Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 Edition with Service Pack 1
setup
as are file server with the Volume Shadow Copy Service enabled.
When first enabled everything was working as it should. If we needed to
recover the previous version of a file we would right click the file and
select previous version and restore an earlier version. Previous versions
were also available on folders and the mapped network drive volume as
well.
Recently we've noticed that previous versions for files no longer exist.
Folders and mapped drive volume previous versions are still available and
files can be restored from under there, but no file anywhere on the server
has a previous version list.
The only thing that has changed recently is we applied new security
patches
to the system that were released by MS. They are as follows:
KB922760
KB919029
KB920213
Can anyone advise on how to correct this problem?
