HOW TO: Force Deletion of DFS Configuration Information

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=224384
A customer reported that an extra step is required in addition to what's in
this KB article. His procedure is below (he added step 2c):
1. Stop the DFS service by typing net stop dfs at a command prompt.
2. Start Registry Editor and delete the following registry keys:
a. Delete the Volumes folder and any subfolders under
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DfsHost.
b. Delete all subfolders under
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DfsDriver\LocalVolumes, leaving
LocalVolumes intact.
c. Delete the key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Dfs\Roots\Domain\xxx, where xxx
represents the faulty namespace
3. From the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in, click Advanced
Features on the View menu. Open the DFS-Configuration container under the
System folder. Delete the DFS root in the right pane.
4. Restart the DFS service you stopped in step 1; net start dfs

I'm getting the above error message when trying to create a new DFS root
domain on a 2003 standard R2a.
I had created a DFS root Domain before called "Main". Once I finished all
the testing I decided to delete it. Now the server still thinks that the
DFS
exists and I cannot created one eventhough the Distributed Files System
mmc
does not show any DFS. I used the Active Directory Users and Computer to
see
if there was a DFS published in AD and the AD mmc also does to show
anything.
How can clean up the left over setting from the DFS that was previously
created? I have used dfsutil.exe and stil couldn't get to clean up.
Any help is greatly appreciated, tnx,
marcelo
