Shadow Copy Question

All,
We have a server running Server 2003 Standard edition SP1 with it's disk
partitioned into a C: and D: drive. It's role is a network file server.
Shadow copies are disabled on both C: which is the OS/Programs partition and
D: which is where the network file shares are located.
As we all know, shadow copies are made of shares on a partition where shadow
copies are enabled - not on the whole partition.
My question is, what happens when you have a share within a share?
e.g.:
D:\NetFiles shared as 'NetFiles$'
D:\NetFiles\Sales shared as 'Sales'
Will the shadow copy take a delta copy of everything within NetFiles$ and
then another delta copy of everything within Sales? Or does it realise that
Sales is hierarchically within NetFiles$ and take appropriate action?
Basically, the NetFiles$ share has multiple other departmental shares within
it with a total size of over 4GB. The NetFiles$ share is required as it uses
DFS (well, ntfrs - this isn't as R2 server) to replicate the data to a
mirror server set-up identically on the LAN (which believe it or not is
working exceptionaly well!). The departmental shares are required to make it
very simple for users.
Shadow copies are currently disabled. I'm thinking about enabling them on
the D: drive at this point - just wanted to clarify this before I do.
Thanks in advance,
Paul.
