A quick look at the white paper in the link you provided suggests that I may
get an answer from that when I have a chance to read it, so thanks.

Hi,.
Thanks for posting.
Based on my knowledge, Shadow Copies of Shared Folders provides
point-in-time copies of files that are located on shared resources, such as
a file server. With Shadow Copies of Shared Folders, you can view shared
files and folders as they existed at points of time in the past. You can
access the server portion of Shadow Copies of Shared Folders through the
Shadow Copies tab of the Local Disk Properties dialog box.

Hi -
I have been upgrading some file servers lately (bigger disks, Windows
copies.R2) and I'm wondering about using the System Drive for storing shadow
as
I know that the shadow copies definitely shouldn't be on the same volume
theythe data that is being shadow copied. But I have also understood that
casesshould not be on a volume with high IO.
Most of these are not highly utilized file servers, so I am guessing that
there is not a huge amount of disk IO even on the System Drive. In all
serversthe System Drive is a hardware RAID 1 (mirror). In some cases the
haveare brand new and have plenty of processing power. The new ones tend to
thatsystem partitions that are over 70 GB, so there is a lot of space there
copies?will go unused.
Can anyone advise whether or not to use the System Drive for shadow
Thanks.
