Re: Access Denied in copying Word & Excel Files to new directory o

Thank You for your continuing interest. At the moment I cannot provide you a
screen shot of the error message... Nor can I give it to you verbatum... I am
away from both of those computers until about mid-January.

I can not determine that there is any reason for this to be happening on two
different computers at the same time... But it seems to tell me that the
"settings" are the same in both computers?

What I don't understand is; I do not believe this is a result of "setting
changes" since I believe I have not changed any settings since I first began
using the computers. And, this was more than a year between the times the
computers were new.

It makes me wonder if an online Microsoft update or patch has caused this to
happen? I also get on-line Virus updates from McAfee.

All I can tell you is that after copying to a different directory; I am
denied access to that directory and the copied or cut/pasted files.

The cut/paste was a disaster... I lost the files completely, and when I look
at the directory, the files are listed, but take up "0" space which means
they are not there and I'm denied access to the "files". And, the second time
I try to access the directory, chanches are I will be denied access.

Surprisingly, I seem to be able to "move" .pdf files by copy or cut/paste to
new directories without harm. Typically, they are moved from the default
"Documents" Folder.

When I have tried to remove or delete a "Directory" that I have tried to
copy files to, I am denied access and therefore cannot remove the directory.

I do not recall seeing a security tab in the properties. I have a General,
Custom and Summary Tab. The attributes are: Read-Only, Hidden and Archive.
When I've been able to check, it seems all of the files I'm denied access to
have had the "Archive" block checked. I have un-checked the block, but this
has had no impact and when I again look, the "Archive" is again checked.

AutoCAD, Word and Excel files are the ones impacted by whatever has happened.

I use an HP-CD-Writer program to write files from the computers to a CD. In
the past this has worked well for my purposes, the day I started this
inquiry, I was informed by an error message that I was denied access and the
HP-CD Writer could not accept the Directories/files for copying to a CD.

I am truly at a loss to understand what has happened.

Thanks for any help or guidence you can provide.

Thanks
