Hello Phil,
Thank you for using newsgroup and I am sorry for the delayed response due
to weekend.
>From your post, I am not sure if this issue occurs on all user accounts of
the specific Windows XP SP2 machine or also occurs on other Windows XP SP2
machines. Could you help me confirm it?
For your situation, I will suggest you check the following suggestions
first:
Suggestion1.
================
Please type the following commands in command line;
net use /persistent:no
net use * /delete /y
Please restart the machine to test the issue.
Suggestion2. Test it in Safe Mode with Network
==============
I suggest we restart the computer in Safe Mode to see if the problem also
occurs in this mode. Safe Mode loads a minimally protected-mode
configuration, disabling Windows device drivers and using the standard VGA
display adapter.
1. Restart the computer.
2. Keep pressing F8 key until the Windows Startup menu appears.
3. Choose the Safe Mode with Network, and press Enter.
Note: Some third party applications and some hardware device cannot be used
during Safe Mode. You will temporarily be unable to connect to the Internet
temporarily while in Safe Mode.
Suggestion3. Disable Offline Files
==============
If you have enabled Offline Files, please disable it to test. You may open
Windows Explorer and click Tools\Folder Options, In Offline Files tab,
please uncheck the checkbox of "Enable Offline Files".
In addition, you may check the following registry keys to see if there are
some mapped drives listed in the registry keys. If so, you can delete them
to test the issue again:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\NETWORK\
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\NETWORK\
If this issue only occurs on the specific machine, I also found similar
issues may be caused by other third party antivirus programs or firewalls.
Therefore, I suggest you temporarily uninstall any third party antivirus
programs that installed on the problematic machine.
Hoe the suggestions help!
Thanks & Regards,
Ken Zhao

| I have a Windows 2003 SBS Server and a user on a Windows XP SP2 system
that
| have mapped drives that say 'Disconnected Network Drives' when you look
| through Explorer. If you do Tool, Disconnect mapped drives it says there
are
| non mapped. If you go to the DOS prompt and do NET USE * /D is says no
| drives mapped. If you click on these disconnected drives it connects to
| shares on the server but does not ever change the description of the
mapped
| drives. Just says 'Disconnected Network Drives'. Tried to right-click
mapped
| drive and disconnect and it says ' Network Drive not found'.
|
| I have rebooted Server and PC but still have the mapped drives. Not
running
| any GPO or netlogon scripts...Even tried logging on as another user but
| still there!
|
| Does anyone have a fix for this? Is there a registry hack.....
|
|
| Thanks
|
| Phil
