missing TCP/IP files.. please help if you can

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Greetings all;
Well.. I dont know how I managed to do it, but somehow I am missing files
required to install simple TCP/IP after a problem with defect wireless card..
I made some changes in the registry (no I didnt back it up.. shoot me) but
not in the control set.. system restores fail.. when I went to remove, then
re-add Windows components I get the message that Windows cant install simple
TCP/IP because of missing file or registry key.. I have spent hours combing
the knowledge base to no avail.. re-install of Windows is not possible.. I
update religously and original version of XP pro is too old.. please tell me
file is on my XP pro CD and that I can just copy it back into appropriate
directory.. any help would be greatly appreciated.. you'd be my hero..

best regards;
Will
