NTFS security (ACL & ACE) on namespace objects?

i understand that NTFS supports security on file system objects though
Access Control Lists (ACL) and Access Control Entries (ACE's).

That makes sense for files on the NTFS filing system hard drive.

But where does Windows store permissions on things such as the Registry, or
on a Printer?

Does it use the same scheme (ACL, ACE), but stored elsewhere?

Is there a special mode where a printer is actually a file on my hard drive?
Is the registry?

Or are they totally different, and they just tried to make the security tab
look like the security tab on files and folders?
