I have developed a serious problem and not sure what tools
I can use to help and what needs to be replaced.
I have a Windows 2003 server running on a highend DEll
poweredge server. I have two controllers. #1 is an Adaptec
2400 Raid5 with 1 raid 5 volume. #2 is the onboard Scsi
controller (it too is adaptec).
Now, when I install a certain typ of viris scanner (like
CA or NAV exchange GW) I get a "disk error" Even 11.
Followed by a "Symmpi1 error" Even 15. No when you look
these errors up everything tells me to look at a cable
issue or a hardware issue. BUT this error only occures
when I use certain antivirus software, the server ran just
fine for over a month without a reboot.
My question is:
when I see and error "The driver detected a controller
error on \Device\Harddisk1." is there a way I can identify
which ard disk is "harddisk1" I expect the numbering
starts at 0.
Is there methods I can use to identify if I do have a
hardware problem and what are they.
And last, has anyone seen this error? Perhaps a
compatability issue with the AHA2400 IDE controller? I
used the 2000 driver, the XP driver AND the beta 2003
driver (they have no actual 2003 out yet! but they assure
me the XP or beta will work just fine)
thanks for your help
