the instructions from this website
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/mobility/getstarted/remotein...

I am sure my problem is this:3.
Both computers must be connected to the Internet through a VPN
connection.

Note: If you're not connecting to the host computer through a
VPN, you'll need to use the actual IP address of the host computer
instead of the computer name.

Can someone help me with this process?  I found another website on
how to set up VPN,http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314076but it
seems I must not be doing it right because it is not working.  When
I try to connect from my work computer I get error 800: Cannot
connect to VPN Network.
Can someone walk me through on exactly how to set up this VPN
Connection?  I would appreciate it very much.

You don't need VPN for RD. You just need to forward port 3389 on
the router to the home computer.

And fix your Windows XP so it uses NLA or fix your Windows Vista so it
doesn't require it.

Hi, I have the same problem. I am using an ADSL modem and then a
netgear wireless router. I have done the port forwarding on the
netgear wireless router, but I dont know how to configure that on the
ADSL modem. Does anyone know how to configure the ADSL modem to
forward the port to the wireless router so that the wireless router
can then again forward the port to the destination computer?

Thanks,
