RE: RDC through VPN - Beginner Questions

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

I got the printer working. I read an old post about adding a printer driver
to a computer (In Printers & Faxes right click, select Server
Properties>Driver and proceed from there). Once I put the driver on my
desktop at work it connected.

Any help with the rest will be appreciated.

Update:

The printer problem appears to be due to the fact that it is a DOT4 driver.
I tried a reg hack that I found in a Windows bulletin but it didn't work.

I have just finished setting up a VPN connection to my company network using
the SonicWall Global Client VPN tool and our PRO2040 firewall.

Everything works as it should. The next step was to set up a Remote Desktop
Connection to my PC. I have done this and found it to work. But I have a
few questions:

1. I elected to have my home printer connected in the RDC session, but it
doesn't show. It's an HP Laserjet 1012 USB printer. The PDF printer on my
local PC shows up on my work PC but my LJ doesn't? I checked the option to
have RDC automatically connect it so why isn't it connected?
2. Is there a way to make my saved .rdp file an .exe? The Sonicwall VPN
client can automatically launch a program after it loads but it can't launch
an .rdp file.
3. When I connect to the remote PC (my desktop at work) I have to login.
Once I login . . . I have to login again. Why?
4. Is there a way to supress the warning that shows when I start the remote
session? The warning states that I am probably seeing it because RDC is not
running from a Vista machine. I know I can check the box that prevents the
warning from showing again but I'd like to make sure it doesn't show in the
first place (I'm the test user for the company - others will be thwarted by
the warning).

I think that's it. All PCs are Windows XP Professional SP2. The RDC is the
newest version from Windows Update, I think it's 6.0

Thanks,

Po
