How do i figure out the ip address of a specific computer so then i
can connect to it remotely?
If the PC is connected directly to the internet go to http://www.whatismyip.com to get the IP address. Remember to configure the Windows Firewall to allow Remote Desktop connections.
If the PC you want to access is behind a router you must also run the ipconfig command from a DOS command line to get the local IP address. Go to "Start -> Run" and type 'cmd' in the command window. At the resulting prompt type the ipconfig command. If the PC is behind a router you will also need to forward TCP Port 3389 to the private LAN IP of the PC you want to remotely connect to. Call using the public IP found with the http://www.whatismyip.com page.
