Shernan,
I'm afraid I need more detailed instructions on how to proceed.
Thanks!

Hi everyone, I need your help in a scenario where an XP Home machine
(connected via DSL with a dynamic IP) needs to be made remotely
accessible to be able to work on this machine from another XP Home
box in a different location, connected to the Internet via ADSL as
well.
My understanding is that the machine which needs to be controlled
remotely must run XP PRO in order to use XPs built in Remote
Desktop features - which is not the case here. So we can screw that.
Correct me if wrong, but I would currently resort to 3rd party
freeware (UltraVNC...) in order to get the job done. That is, not
having an idea about the realibilty, speed or security of such a
connection. I also learned that a dynamic IP requires external
services (i.e. no-ip.org etc) to be made available without
interruption or user intervention.
Could someone please let me know what the best solution would be in
this scenario? This is a favor I do to a daycare center and the
city will not allow any additional costs (ie. for my work, a static
ip or an upgrade to xp professional).
You've got it...
UltraVNC with a Dynamic DNS and Updater installed on the computer or the
router with the proper ports forwarded (on the router) and/or allowed
through any software firewalls.
DynDNS.com (free dynamic DNS service.)
