Remote Desktop will not Open Local Printer Dialogue

I'm running WinXP Pro and using the current version of Remote Desktop to
view documents on a Win 2003 Server. I'm printing these documents to a fax
machine installed on my local computer where it is shared and listed in the
directory of the main server as a fax printer.
Here's the scenario: I open a document and tell it to print to the fax
printer on my local desktop. The job is spooled and the "send fax" dialogue
window opens on top of my remote desktop window. I fill in the data and
send the fax.
Now I click on the desktop in my remote session window, the focus changes,
and the fax dialogue window reverts back to the desktop of my local PC. So
far, so good. I then repeat the procedure for sending a new fax, but this
time the fax window does not appear. If I open my local desktop the fax
window is there with the document I want to send all ready to go.
How do I get the fax window to become the focus in my Remote desktop session
upon sending a fax (as it did when the first fax initialized and popped up
on my remote system)? I know it can be done because it worked for several
days upon a fresh Win XP install. I can't find a setting anywhere to make
local programs become the focus in a Remote Desktop session.
Thanks,
Ric
