Any error messages when you try to connect from the W98 machine?
Is this over a local LAN?
Can you ping the XP machines from the W98 machine?
Is the XP SP2 Windows Firewall possibly blocking access from the laptop
based on its IP address?

machine is a laptop old Thinkpad and it up till recently worked great
as a client on the winxp remote system
The laptop had a recent crash I have now reinstalled everythign and
can not no matter what I try get the win98 to log into the winxp as
the remote desltop client.
I can get either of the winxp machine to log into each other as remote
desltop but not th win98 mahcine I have read eberythign I can think of
and tried I think everthing .. need ideas what can I try the router is
a Dlink 634 I assume since the other computer can log in as a client
that router can be ruled out except.. the win98 machine is wireless
where the other two are hard wired..
frustrated as this same hardware worked great before the crash
