password required to boot the computer. In PCAnywhere, both the user name
and password have valid entries.

Remote computer...........Windows XP Pro. On a 3Com router with both 5631 &
5632 ports opened, powered by Road Runner Cable. PCAnywhere 10.5. Computer
"user" is default administrator with a password. In PCAnywhere, the same
user name and password is entered and matches the PCAnywhere user name and
password of the Host computer. Am using the WAN IP address to try to connect
to the Host, as verified from www.whatismyip.com, and also from c:\ipconfig
/all.

The remote computer is able to connect to other computers using PCAnywhere,
so I believe that the remote setting are correct. It must be some setting or
configuration in the Host computer, perhaps?

Is the Home edition running SP2? If so, is windows firewall enabled?
Norton Internet Security also affects this. Disbale ANY kind of
client-side firewall. Try the procedure in reverse, connect to the XP
Pro machine from XP Home. Recheck the Host authentication. It must be
set to "Windows Authentication."
