Re: Remote working - log in problems

I've tried it on the LAN - that works
I've tried it at a remote computer - doesn't work

All the tools say that port is open, so everything should be fine...I
don't get it

Over the LAN it works fine, but I can't connect over the Internet. I
will look at that tutorial more closely when I am with the machine, but
it seemed to work great before when I port forwarded for bit torrent.
I no longer have a software firewall on the machine, so there should be
no problem...

at
personal firewall software or anti-trojan software or something like

I've tried to set this up as well and am unable to connect outside my
network. I forwarded the port just like I have done for bit torrent
and it should work. I did a port scan and it said that 3389 was open,
so I figure it should work, but I still can't connect over the
Internet, even from a machine on the network...

So would i be right in saying that the pc name is not relevant
and
doesn't
need to be used in order to log in to it?

Use the public IP of your PC at home, ie. the IP assigned by
your
ISP.
If
the PC is behind a firewall you need to open TCP Port 3389 on
the
firewall.

Use your UserId and password. Also note you need to be an
administrator
or
a member of the Remote Desktop Users Group.

Leave the domain blank in your case.
