Re: Error 721

I figured out the problem - with a lot of help . . . it turned out to be a
compatability problem with Cisco(one of my other connections). Once the Cisco
Services was stopped, my regular windows VPN's were working fine.

It is PPTP.

I have the same problem while other machines are working fine.

This is the case:
VPN link to the www.sail.hr, public IP address, Win2003 Srv Web Edt
[2xLAN adapters] one on remote location LAN, one on 100Mbps Internet
connection of academic provider
-> Incoming connections (VPN) enabled (one at time).
VPN link to the vpn.min-kulture.hr, public IP address, Win2003 Srv Std Edt
ISA Server [2xLAN adapters] one on DMZ towards corporate LAN, one on
1Mbps Internet connection of commercial provider
-> Incoming connections (VPN) enabled (many).

My LAN:
- SAIL-ONE, Win2003 Srv Std [LAN adapter + 2xVMnet adapters]
-> create & connect works fine for both VPN-s
- HRVOJE, WinXPPro SP2 [LAN]
-> create & connect works fine for both VPN-s
- SAIL-IVAN (my machine), WinXPPro SP2 [LAN+WLAN + 2xVMnet adapters]
-> worked fine until yesterday, now it hangs on "verifying username
and password" reporting Error 721 after 30 sec timeout for both VPN-s
- sail-vm-offXP (VMware virtual machine on SAIL-IVAN) WinXPPro SP2
-> create & connect works fine for both VPN-s (!!?)
- sail-vm-off2k (VMware virtual machine on SAIL-IVAN) Win2000Pro
-> create & connect works fine for both VPN-s

Symptoms are pointing to some misconfiguration or corruption of PPPoE or
PPTP WAN Miniport NDIS system files, drivers or registry settings but I've
checked everything. All files fith WFP (SFC /SCANNOW), reapplied SP2, checked
all keys and bindings under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NdisWan\Linkage
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasPppoe\Linkage
...reinstalled WLAN drivers and Intel PROSet, checked all relevant postings
and pages on the Internet but still, nothing.

I'm developer in the middle of project and reinstalling Windows and 100
applications and utilities is my last resort.

Please, help.

One more time. This is not firewall/routing/GRE issue!
Because, all clients are working perfectly including virtual machines on the
problematic computer, so routing, firewalls and NAT are working fine
everywhere including my machine. It is something WinXP VPN client but I don't
know what and how and I don't know how to debug it.

My vpn connection has suddenly stopped working on my machine. It hangs on
'Verifying username and password' them finally results in an error 721.

If I set up the exact same VPN on another machine on the same network, it
works fine.
