problem with remote desktop

i need to configure win2003 so some external company should have
access to our erp server. i thought that remote desktop would be ok
here. the problem is it usually don't work :/
the symptoms:
- i try to login, get to login screen, after writing login and pass
the remote desktop (on client computer) just quits to desktop. my
server firewall log shows incoming connection from client machine.
terminal service manager shows only the user logged on host machine,
no clients.
- i try to login, get login password. the remote desktop shows me
clean win2k3 desktop and hangs (at least seems so). i'm logged in (as
seen in win2k3 ts manager fe), am able to receive messages from
server, but can't do anything.
sometimes, rarely though, i am able to login normally. it works more
often with admin account than with user account.
i have absolutely no idea why it's not working or working for that
matter :/ i tried to restart, login from different computers,
configure groups and users permissions, to no avail. someone suggested
it may be a firewall problem (i'm using kerio server), but i was able
to login succesfully while having kerio installed. for testing
purposes i allowed all traffic from clients to server.
any help would be appreciated.
i'm must say i'm not very good with networks as i usually perform a
dba role so plz try to keep it simple :)
