multiple problems at the same time

The other day I uninstalled norton AV..., and downloaded a 12 month trial of
ezAntivirus, from eTrust.

I updated and scanned, and updated and scanned with my spybot and
adaware.....since it had been awhile.


I tried the next day to change my password to keep my kids off the
computer....and when the user groups box opened.....it had nothing in
it......I figured I had messed up with my scans, so I went to system
restore, and got the same open box, empty.

So far, I cant use them, windows update, media player .....or system
information....


Does it sound like my windows xp home is corrupted now?

If so....how do I fix that on a dial up?
