A computer belonging to a student of mine has been
infected by the Blaster worm, which we discovered when
trying to install Norton Internet Security 2004 (it
installed, but didn't work, which we attributed to denial
of service by the worm). I removed the worm (with System
Resore off, as recommended by Norton), then installed
SP1. Before reinstalling NIS I tried to disable the
Internet Firewall, but got a message to say WMI was
corrupt. Also can't switch System Restore on again
(attempts to create a restore point always hang) and My
Computer properties is slow to load (and sometimes
doesn't). I have repaired WinXP Home, and reinstalled
    SP1, all to no effect.

I'm at a loss what to do next. Any ideas, please ?
