Let's try to work this out..... if you have a friend with a PC that has a firewire port, ask if you can try connecting the camcorder on their PC. This will prove to us that the cable and firewire port on the camcorder are working OK if it connects to your friend's PC.
If they also have a (working) camcorder, ask them if they can connect it to your notebook.... this should prove if the firewire port on your notebook works OK.

Hi
Thanks for the reply. I tried with the both external power(A.C) and
battery. But there is no use. Still not able to recognize. Do i need
to make any changes to my 1394 card? or camera? Because camera DV port
is in/out. To make this port as out do i need to make any change and
also to my laptop card? let me know.
