Yes, I did change the color quality setting several times but it just
doesn't really improve.

Current Mode: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz)

Although it says 32 bit, what I'm really seeing is something like 256
colors.

Did you reset the correct resolution.... Right click on the desktop and
select Properties..... then from the Settings tab, ensure the color
quality is set at 32 bit and resolution something like 1024 x 768
