first test the capture using the lowest of capture settings available. This
will ensure that the firewire card is working. (Is this a pcmcia card). Such
as pocket pc.
Test a slightly better quality wmv setting.
If these both work then it sounds like the pc specs can't cope with the
amount of info coming in.
What size hard drive do you have?
How much free space?
Is the laptop new, I'll see if I can find out the rpm speed of the hdd,
unless you can find it in any literature you have on the laptop, in may be
4200, 5400, 7200rpm..
