Creating a program

Good Morning!
I got a new phone that takes videos...............I filmed a video and
emailed it to my computer. When I tried to open it a window opened that said
this file has no program associated with it, I followed the instructions in
the help menu and got more confused than I was.
Does anyone have an answer for me?...........I'd appreciate someone telling
me, in English, How to proceed. It was a cool video!
