Two monitors... default window...

I recently setup a second monitor at work. Now I can have Outlook or
other apps running in that new monitor while I do all my other stuff on
my laptop screen. However, once I set this up, I can't seem to undo
it. I had outlook & some other apps always running on #2 and when I
didn't have #2 connected, it would load the app back in #1 screen (the
laptop LCD). However, some apps kept loading stuff in #2...
specifically IMs. When I'd receive an IM, it would automatically popup
in the #2... but when I wasn't connected to my #2 monitor, I couldn't
get/see my IMs.

Is there a way to turn this feature on/off once I set it up? I went
into the display settings and the "extend my desktop to this desktop"
was checked and disabled. Can't find a way to either disable the #2
monitor OR tell apps to load all their windows in the main window.
Thanks in advance,
AC
