Canopus ADVC-100 Playback

I have a Canopus ADVC-100 (Analog to Digital converter)
connected through my firewire, and I can watch the viedo
perfectly well via
  "My Computer -> AVC Compliant DV Tape Recorder/Player"
however this does not provide audio. In the "Type" field
in My Computer, it shows up as a Digital Camera, which is
probably why there is no audio.

I hate having to fire up Premiere or whatever just to
watch and listen to whatever I hook up to the analog.

Anyone know of tools which will just playback whatever
signal is coming in from firewire, or better still, how
to activate the audio stream from the browser in My
Computer
