Yes the HP was out of warranty. That conversation was part of the 2 hours
with HP support. They wanted me to pay for 1 incident or $100 for 365/24/7.
I was going to go with the $100 but then they said if they can't resolve my
issue over the phone they will require it to be sent in to the bench for
testing and that would be another $300 bucks.

I've looked for a bare-bones-all-in-one replacement tower. Figured I could
swap the cpu, memory and drives to the new tower. But what I found online
wasn't in stock. Would have had the same mother board P5LP-LE and new power
supply. But looks like finding one in stock is a pipe dream.

Holy moly... I had no idea what I was in for.

I browsed HP's website for the m7250n make and model. The recovery
cd's they had listed had a more current Build # and Revision Date
than the one she had just order from HP. So I ordered the set and
had it overnited.

Same restore cd's she had purchased but the packing list had a
different part # than I had ordered. Thus I called and was on HP's
customer service line for almost 2 hours with no resolution. They
had no explanation why I would be sent the wrong part #. The part
# on the web was non-existent in their minds. Being in a position
in my job where I had recommended HP desktop and servers in a large
corporation and a stockholder I was so appalled at the support...
well I will never purchase another HP computer/server again. Sorry
for the rant on with the problem.

I found a replacement graphics card thinking it would be that but
same results.

After maybe 10 attempts I decided maybe just buying another license
of WinXP Media Center Edition 2005 and doing a fresh install would
work. So I forked out $100 for a license and tried to install.

Same results the computer just loses video signal and the computer
appears to be in a suspended state. The front lights are on. The
mouse light is on. The keyboard doesn't light up if I hit the Num
Lock or Caps Lock. I can't get the computer to come out of suspend
mode. Anyone with similiar problem? Any solutions?

I read all that - and this stiucks out:

They sent you the incorrect restoration set twice, was there a third time
with the correct set and has anyone demanded an actual Windows installation
CD and CD/DVDs with the other software originally purchased on the machine
instead of this 'restoration' crud?

Sounds very much like a motherboard or power issue to me. Neither a
pleasure to fix since you would likely have to get both from HP.

I'm guessing the HP was decently out of warranty with all this
buying/replacing (hard drive, video card, etc.) Unfortunately - some money
was already spent. Otherwise - my suggestion would be to drop the
out-of-warranty machine and get a refurbished equivalent or better with an
extra warranty/coverage for likely what you have spent on it so far (time
doled out as money as well) and end up with a better machine, under
warranty.
