I wanted to upgrade from Windows 2000 Pro to XP Home for my home computer, so
I purchased a copy from Best Buy, but when I tried to install it, it would
not install because it said that it would not install because I had Windows
2000 Pro.

What do I need to do to upgrade? Please don't try to push Vista, because my
computer will not take it and I am not that computer savvy.

Thank you for your help.

Going from Windows 2000 Professional to XP Home Edition is not a supported
upgrade path. On the front of the box you should see listed the versions of
Windows that qualify for an upgrade to XP Home Edition.

You can upgrade to XP Professional from Windows 2000 Pro.

If you purchased a full version of XP Home, you can do a clean install. If you
purchased the upgrade version of XP Home, you'll have to get your hands on an
installation CD for Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows ME. You will then have to
provide that CD early in the XP Home installation process to show that you
qualify for the upgrade. Either way, you will have to do a clean installation.
That means backing up your files from Win2K and reinstalling any programs you
want to use with XP Home.

Good luck
