Thank you very much

I have not tried on 2 deferent drives but I have tried this:
- install xp pro 32 bit first on a primary partition, make sure it works
properly and updated completed,
- install xp pro 64 bit on another primary partition. this will overwrite
the ntldr on the first primary partition but will be ok, update it also

so far both boots correctly and works.. I did some registry tweak to allow
both OS to refer the same logical drives with same letters

In general, you have to install the oldest released product first and add
the next relapsed product

For some PC you can use the F8 to choose which disk to boot from. IN that
case you can install OS in different hard drive, one at a time without the
presence of other drive ( enable, disable hard drive in BIOS, or actually
physically removed). In this scenario, the each OS is totally unaware of
he presence other OS and possibly not even other hard drive. However, you
get the least problem if each window OS use only one partition. Otherwise
you could end up with wrong drive assignments and cause boot failure or
other problems

Had all sorts of problems trying to dual boot 32 bit XPpro on one drive
and
64 bit version on slave drive. This resulted in two default drives during
boot sequence and I could not change this in boot.ini. Neither would boot
properly and I had to re-install frm scratch to get the 32 bit version
going
again. I can dual boot two 32 bit XPpro OS's but seemingly somewhere in
"ntdlr" there is an error and I don't know how to fix in "CMD".

Soon I will wish to dual boot Vista Ultimate 32 and 64 bit. I cannot get
ant sense from Microsoft, so if anyone can help, I would be very grateful

That's what I'm doing.I have a 30 gig older drive I've setup with x64
version, and I just change the pointer in BIOS to that drive to switch to
x64.

Including software incompatibilities , If you rely want to try make it
safe.. if you have a extra hard drive use this hard drive on trial
version

But don't use your good hard drive with Windows XP Pro..

Like the title says, Im wanting to dual boot these two operating
systems. Im
very comfortable with xp pro, and Im wanting to see how the 64 bit OS
runs.
What I need to know, is which OS I need to have installed first, and
should I
do a clean install of my xp pro, or can I use what I have already.
Ive got 5
other partitions I can use to load xp 64 on, as Ive heard you need to
install
it on a separate partition. This is my first attempt at dual booting,
so I
wanna make sure I do this correctly. Thank you all ahead of time for
your
help.
