just to recap........new RAM........reset the BIOS.....reinstalled from factory recovery CD......sysconfig error said wrong line in Boot.ini..you deleted line????
could you copy and paste your boot ini file....????
You do realise you already started from scratch when you "reinstalled from factory settings".......I assume this to mean you reinstalled the whole operating system by means of the recovery CD or partition on the HD...and as such all updates and everything you have installed since then are gone.
Check to make sure you still have Anti Virus......and then post back

hi please help with my error in system config this is what i did and then
what happened i had very low ram so i bought new ram to add i have a compaq
persario model # sr1403wm i put the new ram in then the computer just hung
there so i called where i bought it the person told me to uninstall both rams
then pull the motherboard battery out for 5 minutes then install both rams
then put battery in then restart the computer started right up i then started
new by reinstalling from factory settings when i went into system config
utilliy it says the following the following line in the boot ini does not
refer to a valid operating system would you like to remove it i did but it
still says the same thing the computer is working but its not loading like it
use to when you would turn it on im affraid it wont be protected if someone
tries to get in my computer i would also be willing to restart from scratch
if you could tell me how thank you
